Physical and Motor Skills

Course Description:
Physical development is a key component of early childhood learning, and at Little Lamb Christian Academy, we provide ample opportunities for children to develop both their gross and fine motor skills through engaging, play-based activities. Our Physical and Motor Skills course encourages children to explore movement, coordination, and physical activity in a fun and supportive environment.
Preschoolers participate in a variety of activities designed to build strength, flexibility, and coordination. Outdoor playtime is an essential part of the curriculum, where children engage in games and exercises that improve their balance, running, jumping, climbing, and overall physical fitness. Through these activities, children also learn about teamwork, following directions, and the joy of active play.
In addition to gross motor development, our program includes activities that promote fine motor skills, such as cutting with scissors, drawing, threading beads, and building with blocks. These activities help strengthen hand-eye coordination and dexterity, preparing children for tasks like writing, dressing, and using utensils. Teachers also incorporate sensory play, allowing children to explore different textures and materials, further enhancing their fine motor abilities.
By providing a wide range of physical activities, we ensure that children develop strong, healthy bodies that support their overall well-being and readiness for academic challenges.
Course Outcomes:
- Enhance gross motor skills: Children will demonstrate coordination through activities like running, jumping, climbing, and balancing.
